Ya, okay - time for another post.

I'm sure my most avid followers have been beside themselves of late, wondering when this drunk dude was going to post another review. I've returned to the land of the living - are you flattered?

I have indeed read more than one book since my last review, but they're all from the same author.  I figured I would get through all (or most) of his novels so I could present to you a thorough take on this dude - John Locke.

No no - not from the hit TV series Lost, but the real John Locke. A guy that lives somewhere in the States. Doesn't matter where. What matters is this self-published dude is the top e-Book seller on Amazon. More than once. He sells an eBook novel every 7 seconds, 24/7. Yup...

You heard it right.  You heard it here.

And he didn't have the decency to ask me for a review. It's OK - I'll get over it. But what frikin' matters is how a nobody beat the establishment and became a publishing phenom in mere months. (New York Times best seller for example). All thanks to technology, and a bit of talent. (Well, more than a bit).  Specifically: Amazon and their eBook reader, the Kindle. And Twitter. And some other tricks. And apparently not my reviews.  It's OK. I'll get over it.

He has 10 books out right now, of which I've read 5 or six. Doesn't matter which 5 - just download all he's written and you'll see why he's so popular.  Most are based on his "Donovan Creed" character, an assassin / hit man whose life adventures are very entertaining. Writing in the first person, he actually takes the liberty to speak to the audience... yes, you - the reader. It's all very un-formulaic, irreverent, sometimes crass, mostly amusing, and V-E-R-Y well crafted plot lines. Twists here. Goof ups there. All very human, and hence very easy to read.  Want escape lit? He's your dude.  I love him to bits.  Though, he's not everyone's cuppa tea, so be wary you stiff upper lip literary word-smith perfectionists... he won't float your boat, but I'll gladly canoe my way up his creek of... um... I'm loosing my grasp on some analogy that has escaped me...

Name: John Locke
Central character: Donovan Creed

Google him.  Or if you have a Kindle, well - you know how it works.

5 out of 5

Oh - did I mention? He's self published!  Just like me!
