Wolfy - The Broken Record

Here we are again - how often am I going to have to scold you POD (print on demand) authors for saying you've read my rules of engagement, but continue to send me books to review that are sub-standard? This last one I reviewed was yet another obvious feeble attempt at writing a novel. The plot was interesting, and the characters well thought-out, but that's as far as it went. The book has misspellings (example "sipped" instead of "slipped"), used a combination of straight and curly quotes (with some even missing), it lacked a front and back cover, copyright and ISBN page, and it was formatted ragged-right as opposed to the standard right-justified.

I begged the author to not publish it in its present form, as that would reflect not only on his poor judgment, but also add to the already tainted reputation of self-published authors.

C'mon writers, lets pull up your bootstraps and raise your quality - I'm tiring of being the bad guy here. Hire an experienced editor and typesetter, and be proud of your book.
